Health and fitness data

With your permission, Backyard App reads distance and heart-rate measurements provided by Apple Watch during an active workout. This information is used on the watch to show loop distance, pace, heart rate, and progress.

When you finish a race, Backyard App saves an outdoor running workout to Apple Health. Permission to write the workout is required to start a race. Permission to save a route is optional. A saved workout can include one lap event for each completed loop.

Health data is stored and handled by Apple Health under your device and iCloud settings. Backyard App does not use health or fitness data for advertising, marketing, data mining, or sale.

Location data

When both Health route sharing and Location permission are granted, Backyard App receives location updates during the workout to create the optional route associated with the saved workout.

Location is processed on the watch and written to Apple Health as part of the route. It is not transmitted to the publisher and is not used for advertising or tracking.

Settings and race recovery

Backyard App stores app settings and a temporary race-recovery snapshot locally on the watch. This preserves the fixed race schedule if the app is interrupted.

The recovery snapshot is removed when workout finalisation completes or when the race is discarded.

Retention and deletion

The publisher does not retain personal app data because Backyard App does not transmit app data to the publisher.

Delete saved workouts and routes in Apple Health. Delete Backyard App from the watch to remove local settings and any unfinished race snapshot.

Permission control

You can review or revoke Health permissions for Backyard App in Apple Health privacy settings on the paired iPhone.

You can review or revoke Location permission in Location Services settings on the paired iPhone or Apple Watch. Revoking optional route access does not remove workouts or routes already saved in Apple Health.

Contact and changes

If a future version changes how data is handled, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before release.
