Apple Watch

With your permission, Backyard reads workout distance and heart-rate measurements on the watch to display live race metrics. When you finish, it writes an outdoor running workout to Apple Health. Optional location access adds the recorded route to that workout.

Apple Health stores and manages workouts, health measurements, and routes under your device and iCloud settings. Backyard stores settings and a temporary race-recovery snapshot locally on the watch. The publisher does not receive this information.

Garmin watches

Backyard uses Garmin Positioning, Sensor, FIT, and FIT Contributor permissions to display live race metrics and record the activity on the watch. The app has no Communications permission and does not send this information to the publisher.

Garmin may store or synchronise the recorded activity through the watch and Garmin Connect according to your Garmin account, device, and privacy settings. Backyard stores settings and a temporary race-recovery snapshot locally on the watch.

When Garmin weather data is available, Backyard may use its current observation location name to label the recorded activity, for example Backyard - Lausanne. That place name can be stored in the FIT activity and synchronised by Garmin; it is not sent to the publisher.

Retention and control

The publisher does not retain app data because the app does not transmit it to the publisher. Manage or delete saved activities and routes in Apple Health, Garmin Connect, or on the relevant device. Uninstalling Backyard removes its local app settings and unfinished race state.

Permissions can be reviewed or revoked in the privacy and app settings provided by Apple, Garmin, the paired phone, or the watch. Previously saved activities remain under the controls of the platform where they were stored.

Contact and changes

If a future version changes how data is handled, this policy and the relevant marketplace disclosure will be updated before release.
